Higgins hoping for league final return for Mayo

Mayo dual star Keith Higgins is looking at ‘two to four weeks out’ after suffering a grade one tear of the medial ligament in his knee last Sunday.
The Ballyhaunis man spoke exclusively to The Mayo News after undergoing an MRI scan in Galway on Tuesday morning. “Hopefully, if we can make it through to a league final, I’d be back in time,” he told Mike Finnerty. “To be honest, it’s probably as good an outcome as I could have hoped for.” Read the full story here


Witnesses sought to early morning Ballina crash

Two men in their twenties were this morning taken to hospital after the car in which they were travelling hit a tree at Rathkip on the Bonniconlon Road in Ballina.
Gardaí in the north Mayo capital are now appealing for witnesses to the single-vehicle crash which happening at 4am.
The driver of the car has since been discharged from hospital while the other man is being detained for treatment. Anyone with information can contact the Gardaí on 096 21422.


Westport Country Market gets that Easter feeling

Spring lambs and baby chicks are coming to the Westport Easter Country Market  tomorrow morning (Thursday). The market is currently located in the Pete Callaghan Centre in the James’ Street Car Park. There will be all the usual products available as well as delicious Easter cakes and breads, homemade sweets and preserves, fresh herbs and vegetables.
