Fancy a new hairstyle but the thought of having it cut or coloured fills you with dread? The sight of a scissors brings you out in a cold sweat? At some time in almost every woman’s life she’s had a hair disaster.
Having said that, I think it’s so worthwhile to take that leap of faith and try something new. It can be extremely rewarding, and can even take years off you, whether it’s a totally new style, or just a new way of wearing the hair style you have.
When the shape and length suit your face shape you’ve struck gold. If you’re not happy with what your hair looks like there are numerous ways to change it. So what’s hot this winter?

Ponytails
The ponytail is back… It was the most featured hairstyle on all the runways this season. Some designers favoured the high, scraped-back ponytail, while others preferred the softer lower one. A tight, high ponytail can work like a mini facelift – try it and see for yourself!

Bobs
A smooth sleek bob can look stunning, but must it be well cut and conditioned. If you’re afraid of the severity of a single-layered bob, you may prefer to update your style with a few layers – it creates texture and can be very youthful.

Big hair
‘Big’ hair is the current trend. If you want oodles of body and fullness, Velcro rollers or hot rollers work a treat.

Braids and updos
Whether you opt for the ballerina bun or something more casual, an updo is the ultimate in femininity. It’s also instantly dressy, so great for the party season.

If you decide to take the plunge and change the cut, ask your hairdresser for an appointment when the salon is quiet – you will need some time if you are considering a change of hairstyle.
We all tend to get stuck in a rut when it comes to hair, and many of us have worn the same style for years. Think about trying something new; it really makes a huge difference and is the best endorphin releaser. Trust me!
