On Thursday, December 4, Cancer Fund for Children is set to bring music and light to Mary of the Rosary Church, Cong, with a special Twilight Concert.

Supported by McGrath’s Cong, the event marks a milestone as Daisy Lodge begins construction in the village. Funds raised will help the charity support children, young people, and families living with the impact of cancer across Ireland.

Attendees can expect an evening of music with performances by local talent, including Coda, Freda Hatton, Annette Griffin and John Staunton, James Kilbane, and the Cong National School Choir. This event will be hosted by Ray McHugh.

Speaking of the event, Linda McGrath from McGrath’s Cong said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Cancer Fund for Children’s first Twilight Concert in Cong. The work the charity does across the island is incredible, and to see the Daisy Lodge build here in Cong come to life means so much to our community.

“We look forward to December 4 and what promises to be an enjoyable night for a wonderful cause.”

Phil Alexander, CEO at Cancer Fund for Children, expressed how grateful he was for the continued support from the Cong Community.

“2025 has been a milestone year for our charity, marking the beginning of construction on our second therapeutic short break centre. Together, we are creating a safe, restorative place for families impacted by childhood cancer, making a life-changing difference for generations to come. Special thanks to all involved in making this event a success.”

Proud to host the upcoming event, Fr. Declan Carroll, Parish Priest of Cong Parish, said: “I’m delighted that our parish church will be the venue for this special concert. It’s wonderful to welcome such an event that brings our community together in support of a great cause.”

Cancer Fund for Children provides emotional, social, and therapeutic support to children and young people (0-24 years) living with cancer across the island of Ireland, as well as their parents and siblings. This summer, construction officially began on the charity’s second Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo, a beautiful 30-acre site on the shores of Lisloughrey.

Tickets can be purchased in Cong Post Office and on the Cancer Fund for Children website.
