The Michael Commins country shows roll into Sligo

The event is set to take place in the Radisson Blu Hotel on the Rosses Point Road in Sligo.

THE road to Sligo beckons again for the Michael Commins shows in the Radisson Blu Hotel on the Rosses Point Road. Last year’s inaugural visit to this scenic spot on the shores of Sligo Bay proved hugely popular and attracted patrons from all over the island of Ireland with some making the journey from England and America.

The shows, in association with Tom Kelly Promotions, will be staged on Monday and Tuesday, November 3 and 4, and bring together a wonderful mix of country and folk singers ranging in age from 16 to 90.

No other shows in Sligo come close to providing such exceptional entertainment and variety of artists for these two brilliant days and nights at the Radisson Blu Hotel. It is not just the wonderful concert line-ups on both nights that attract such a loyal following but the friendships build-up over the years.

John Glenn from Armagh, celebrating 50 years in country music, is one of the headline acts on Monday 3 and the superb line-up also features Hugo Duncan, Tony Allen, Sandy Kelly, Billy McFarland, Moyra Fraser, Eamon McCann, Shawn Cuddy, Fr James McDonagh, Effie Neill, Gavin Gribben, Michael Cleary and Jacqui Bannon, Paddy Tracey (winner of Glór Tíre 2025), Brendan Magee, Charlie Arkins and the Ryan Turner Band.

And if that does not whet your appetite, there is another brilliant concert on Tuesday 4. Eleanor Shanley from Leitrim will make her debut at the Michael Commins Shows and the night will also feature Tony Kerr, Art Supple, Mick Mulhern, Ciaran Rosney, Joe Moore, David James, Thomas Maguire and Fhiona Ennis, Pat McKenna, Colm O’Donnell, Eddie Gallagher, Ally Harron and Marian Curry, Sarah Lyons (Balla), Clodagh Togher (Belmullet), Sylvie and Deirdre Golden (Ballina), Billy Condon and the Ryan Turner Band.

The shows start at 7.45pm each night. The Monday afternoon session in the bar with Mick Mulhern, Michael Holster, Michael Golden and John Costello, is from 3.30pm to 5.30pm and serves as a brilliant ‘Welcome to Sligo’ for patrons who love to flock to the venue early in the day. The Tuesday afternoon session is also in the same time frame.

Tickets are 35 and selling fast and are now available from the Radisson Blu Hotel reception, Gillespie’s (Tubbercurry), Quinn’s (Tuam), Siobhan’s Fashion Scene (Charlestown), Glynn’s Shop (Claremorris), Carr’s Daybreak (Ballina), Imelda Towey’s Shop, Ballaghaderreen, Patsy on 086 1551841, Ger Commins on 087 6484334, Sharon on 07921788870 (for the northern counties) and Ticketmaster.
