After a series of warm-up gigs, the official launch of the third Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival (June 26 to June 28) takes place this Saturday night, June 6. Four great acts will be playing in Geraghty’s Pub, The Octagon, Westport, providing a tantalising taste of what’s to come during the festival. At 9pm, Tim Rogers will take to the stage first with his unique ‘old time’ bluegrass sound. Second up is David Hope, who will put on a great folk show. Following Dave will be the hugely popular brother and sister act from Killawalla, The MacEvillys, while rounding off this evening of superb music will be Irish folk group Odi. Tickets for the festival, which is being organised by Uri Kohen and the Electric Cave Productions West, will be on sale on the night. Admission is free.
