MUSIC The Acoustic Yard celebrates its fifth anniversary with a special concert by Track Dogs in Westport tomorrow evening

POPULAR PACK Track Dogs are playing in Westport tomorrow evening.

The Acoustic Yard celebrates its fifth anniversary with a special concert in Matt Molloy’s Yard Bar, Westport, on Wednesday, September 4, with Madrid based band Track Dogs, supplying some Latino grooves and Cuban rhythms – a perfect way to end the summer.
The Acoustic Yard has been organising dozens of events in various venues over the last five years in Westport, including its own music festival each May, which gives a platform to local, national and international songwriters from around the world.
Organiser David Dee Moore has also recorded over 200 radio shows on www.bluesandrootsradio.com with his weekly programme on every Friday at 6.30pm. The station attracts up to a million listeners every week and has become a valuable outlet for emerging Irish artists.
To celebrate this achievement, The Acoustic Yard is organising a special gig with one of the hottest bands in Europe, the fabulous Track Dogs. Comprised of two Irishmen, one Englishman and one American, the band came together in 2011 to make their unique brand of acoustic music; a veritable 4×4 of voices and instruments identified for their dynamic fusion of styles including folk, Latin, Americana and even some bluegrass.
Taking their name from the New York subway maintenance teams, this closely-knit group of ex-pats have opted for the cajón instead of drums and trumpet in place of electric guitar with four-part harmonies stealing the show. They have wooed audiences in all the major festivals in Europe and we are delighted that they can share in The Acoustic Yard festivities playing songs from their latest album, ‘Uke Songs’.
Special Guest on the night is ‘Socks in the Frying Pan’ frontman AodΡn Coyne from Co Clare, who has just released his debut solo single ‘Chance and Gamble’.

Tickets are €15 and are available online at www.theacousticyard.com. Doors open 7.30pm.
