Nine Months to be staged in Westport

COMEDY ‘Nine Months’ will be staged in Westport Town Hall Theatre on Thursday, June 20, at 8pm

COMEDY PAIRING  Frances Moylan and Imelda Reynolds star in ‘Nine Months’.

‘Nine Months’, a comedy written, devised and performed by Frances Moylan and Westport woman Imelda Reynolds and directed by Mike Irwin, will be performed in Westport Town Hall Theatre on Thursday, June 20, at 8pm.
A kaleidoscope of Irish women’s true stories, ‘Nine Months’ promises to take audiences on a hilarious thought-provoking and captivating rollercoaster journey. The different tales – which are based on real-life interviews with Mayo and Galway women – are woven together into a continuous narrative through music.
As a collection, the stories touch on contemporary and historical issues relating to pregnancy and childcare over the last 50 years, and beg the question, ‘Have things changed for women in Ireland?’. Throughout, darker elements are juxtaposed with the funny and absurd realities of parenting.
The Westport performance marks the first date in the play’s six-night nationwide tour, after which it travels to Scotland for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The play will be supported on the night by comedian Johnny Graham and folk singer/songwriter Mick Browne. Tickets: €18/€16.
