Ballina Arts Centre is hosting Embers, its first ever children’s film festival, this weekend, October 7 and 8. The festival offers children the chance to the magic of great film and take part in a Lego workshop on how to create a film set and film and edit your own movie. The children also will make their own film, which will be available on a YouTube channel to share with friends and family.
The festival will show a mixture of  Irish and international children’s film and animation,  including short films for children aged four and over, feature films and family films. The titles to be screened include ‘Box of Delights’, ‘Miniscule: Valley of the Lost Ants’, ‘Song of the Sea’, ‘Lost and Found’, ‘James and The Giant Peach’, ‘Whale Rider’ and many more.
During the movie-making workshop, mini Lego figures come alive! The children can bring their favourite Lego character to cast as the star of their own legendary adventure. The workshop involves hands-on learning and some simple demonstrations. Please note that this workshop is only suitable for kids aged eight and older.
