PETS’ CORNER October’s Mutt of the Month: Rex

Meet Rex, a lovely retriever-cross boy found tied to a tree in a rural area, who now desperately needs a loving home

Mutt of the Month
October — Rex

Rex is now approaching six months at MADRA kennels, so they are rolling out a special appeal for him.
This lovely retriever-cross boy was found tied to a tree in a rural area where no one had ever seen him before. He was so stressed and upset, he had to be sedated before the dog warden could untie him. However, once he came into the kennels it became obvious that he was just a big, loving softy who quickly became a firm favourite with all of the kennel volunteers.
Perhaps due to his traumatic past, Rex is not great when meeting other dogs on lead, although he gets on fine with dogs he has been carefully introduced to. He will need a family that will understand this and be willing to work on this issue. We’re sure he will improve quickly with a little positive reinforcement once he is away from the stresses of kennel life.
Rex would be suitable for a family with older children, or be an ideal, loyal companion for an older person or someone living alone.
If you would like to offer Rex a forever home, and want to find out more, check out MADRA’s little video called ‘Special appeal for Rex’ on YouTube.

Rex is just one of many Mayo and Galway rescue dogs at Connemara-based Mutts Anonymous Dog Rescue and Adoption (MADRA) looking for a loving home. All dogs will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Please see www.madra.ie, visit MADRA’s Facebook page or call or text Marina on 086 8149026.
