Country legend Max T Barnes will perform at Ballina Arts Centre on Wednesday, March 5, and at the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, on Sunday, March 16, with special guest Nashville star Craig Curtis.
Max T Barnes has had numerous Number 1 hit records at the top of Billboard’s Country Music charts for multiple, consecutive, weeks during his more-than 30-year career. His songs helped launch the careers of performers such as Collin Raye, Randy Travis, Diamond Rio and John Schneider.
Max’s number 1 hits have included ‘Love Me’ and ‘That’s How Your Love Makes Me Feel’, as well as a number of movie scores including ‘A Letter from Death Row’ for HBO, starring Martin Sheen.
Max wrote his first hit song at the age of 19 – Vern Godsin’s, ‘Way Down Deep’. He grew up at the feet of Nashville country music legend and Hall of Fame member Max D Barnes, whose songs include ‘Chiseled In Stone’ and ‘Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes’. Perhaps one of his biggest challenges yet accomplishments came when he was up against his father at the 1991 Country Music Awards for Song of the Year. His dad took home the award that night for ‘Look at Us’, co-written with Vince Gill.
Max T went on to acquire additional awards and song writing credits for music from Ralph Stanley to Montgomery Gentry, and from Poison to George Jones. Among his singles are two Joe Diffie hits, ‘A Night to Remember’ and ‘Tougher than Nails’, as well as the title song of the ‘We The People’ comedy album by Ray Stevens. Today, he continues to write, produce, manage his late father’s publishing empire, and help new songwriters and artist with Backwoods Recording Studio providing artist consultations.
