‘Hilom Hiraya - Healing Imagination’, an exhibition of work by artist and architect Francis Lanuza, is currently showing at the Greenway Gallery, just off James’s Street, Westport.
Lanuza, who is originally from the Philippines, currently works from a studio based in Castlebar. His exhibition is a collection of ‘visionary art’ inspired by Lanuza's work with the healer Shamans of the Shuar Indians of the Amazon, whose way of life is under threat due to deforestation and mining in the region.
The exhibition, which is being held to raise awareness of the Shuar medicine culture and its potential benefits in treating many types of illness, including cancer and HIV, will be on display until April 30. The exhibition will then travel to Dublin, London, Amsterdam and New York.
