THEATRE Linenhall hosts ‘Scorpion (A Sting in the Tale)’

A sting in the Celtic Tiger’s tail
Beezneez Theatre Company will stage ‘Scorpion (A Sting in the Tale)’ in the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, next Tuesday. John McDwyer’s latest play is described as ‘a searing, honest appraisal of life at the end of the Celtic Tiger’. Three Sales Managers meet in their Sales Director’s office, ostensibly to meet their new Managing Director but, in fact, to meet their future. For some, that is more promising than for others. As they await their call, they ‘bat the breeze’ and in scenes rich in uncompromising dialogue, they fight for position and score points on one another without fear or favour. Beezneez Artistic Director John McDwyer pulls no punches with his dialogue in this relevant new work. While full of witty comment and sparkling one-liners, ‘Scorpion’ ultimately delivers ‘a bang up-to-date commentary on the state of Ireland in the current climate’ and presents the audience with characters who will remain in the memory long after the show is over.
Beezneez Theatre presents ‘Scorpion’ at the Linenhall Arts Centre on Tuesday, February 26, at 8pm. To book, call 094 9023733. Contains strong language, not suitable for children.
