Special Christmas GrΡinne Mhaol show at Hotel Westport
Following their sold-out run of shows in Westport during the summer, the traditional music stage show ‘The Legend of GrΡinne Mhaol’ is returning to Hotel Westport for a once-off Christmas Special on Saturday, December 29. Described on RTÉ as ‘a magical musical gem in the west’ this once-off Christmas performance of the GrΡinne Mhaol story will include a whole host of special guests including the legendary singer SeΡn Keane. The GrΡinne Mhaol Christmas Special at Hotel Westport on December 29 will also include a number of newly composed musical pieces and dance performances especially for this once off show. “We were inundated with requests to run the show over the Christmas period this year because so many people missed the show during the summer. Everyone seems to have family members, relations and friends coming home this Christmas so we decided we would put on a real special Christmas Show for them. It is going to be an amazing show,” commented show producer and Westport native Pierce O’Reilly. Based on the real-life story of the Pirate Queen Grace O’ Malley or GrΡinne Mhaol ‘The GrΡinne Mhaol’ stage show at Hotel Westport has left the audience after each performance shouting for more. The show itself is a wonderful celebration of Irish music, song and dance reliving the journey of the Irish legend GrΡinne Mhaol throughout history. The show contains a wealth of talented musicians and dancers from all over the west of Ireland. Lord of the Dance fiddle player Cora Smyth headlines the show with You’re a Star finalist James Kilbane, Latino sensation Pollyanna Guedes, All-Ireland champion box player Darragh Healy and Ireland’s most gifted and best known Sean Nós Dancing family the Cunninghams from Connemara all weaving their magic over the audience. “The GrΡinne Mhaol show has received a standing ovation every single night it is performed at Hotel Westport and we are thrilled it is returning with a Christmas Special performance. If locals or visitors to the west this Christmas are looking for something truly unique and special then this show should be their first port-of-call,” commented Declan Heneghan, General Manager at Hotel Westport. Tickets for this once off Christmas performance cost €30 and are on sale now from Hotel Westport at 098 25122 or www.grainnemhaol.com. B&B and show or Dinner & Show specials are also available from Hotel Westport at www.hotelwestport.ie.
