COMEDY De Staic to perform ‘Around the World’ in Ballina
30 Aug 2011 8:08 AM
Aindrias de Staic will perform his award-winning musical comedy ‘Around the world on 80 Quid!’ this Thursday
‘Around the World’ in Ballina
Written and performed by Shrule man Aindrias de Staic, the curtain goes up at 8pm this Thursday, September 1, on one of the most anticipated shows to hit Ballina Arts Centre’s stage. After four years of touring to every theatre, stage, stable, pub, club and street corner, ‘Around the World on 80 Quid!’ finally comes home to roost once again. What started as a bit of story-telling with a few tunes at the revolutionary Project 06 movement in Galway, gradually grew to a comedy show winning awards at Edinburgh Fringe – and now Mayo audiences get a rare chance to see it on their own turf. The hectic journey of a musical backpacker who rambles the world to eventually find himself and his music as he backpacks across Australia. It’s natural blend of fantastic virtuoso violin playing and comic traditional Irish storytelling. A unique show by a multi-award-winning Irish comic actor, it has won accolades and rave reviews all over the globe.
Admission is €12/€10 and booking is essential. For more information, log onto www.ballinaartscentre.com or call into Ballina Arts Centre, Barrett Street, Ballina, or call 096 73593.
