TG4 to feature Westport and Eachléim tonight

TG4’s new entertainment series ‘An Samhradh Linn’ travels the length and breadth of the country to depict the summer through music, colour, story, insights and food. Tonight’s show (July 12) is devoted to Co Mayo, with Westport and Eachléim on the Mullet Penninsula taking the starring roles in a show hosted by Síle Ní BhraonΡin.
First on the music agenda is Shane Mulchrone, Marie Mc Hugh, Seamus Deane and Oisín Ó MongΡin, with a lively traditional music session in Matt Molloy’s Pub in Westport. Then it’s to Liam Mac CongΡil’s home to hear local music at its best, as he plays a beautiful piece on the Melodeon.
Mayo’s answer to Garth Brooks, Conor Duffy, will also perform a country and western song , accompanied by Eddie Burn on guitar. Duffy, who hails from Killawalla, has been singing and playing guitar from the age of nine, and he’s recently been making quite a name for himself on the country scene.
Local woman MΡire Uí RuadhΡin will also guide viewers through the focal points of the gaeltacht of Eachléim, bringing all its scenic beauty and traquility to life.
Next it’s into the kitchen – the kitchen of Italian restaurant Il Vulcano, Westport, to be specific. A firm favourite with locals and visitors alike, Il Vulcano is located on High Street. The restaurant’s chef, Maurizo, will cook up a sumptuous seafood pasta dish. The recipe will then be available online at www.tg4.ie.

An Samhradh Linn airs every Tuesday at 8.30pm on TG4, and online at www.tg4.ie.
