Linenhall Arts Centre announces events for this mid-term

The Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar is hosting a range of events for children during the mid-term break, including the Roola Boola arts festival, which features storytelling, dance, art and film.
The Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar is bursting with creativity, colour and excitement this week as its annual children's arts festival, Roola Boola, heads towards a spectacular Halloween finale! From storytelling and dance to art, film, and a monster céilí, the programme offers plenty to keep little imaginations busy over the mid-term break.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28, brings a delightful mix of creativity and storytelling. At 11.30 am, families can enjoy the Polish animated film The Amazing Adventures of the Lost Socks 3 (Niesamowite przygody skarpetek 3 – Polish with English subtitles). Afterwards, at 12.30 pm, artist Justyna Gruszczyk leads a related Lost Socks Art Workshop, while the Listen! Éist! Storytelling Workshop at 2:30 pm celebrates the magic of stories and languages.
On Thursday, October 29, it's time for little ones to get messy with CaBubble, an engaging art and music experience for babies at 10:30 am and toddlers at 1:30 pm.
Dance lovers can also enjoy the incredible twists and turns of Flip by Mónica Muñoz on Fri 30 Oct, with performances at 12 noon and 2:00 pm – Full of movement, rhythm and beautiful chaos for children and grown-ups who can’t keep still.
A Ukrainian-language family-friendly gallery tour of the Viewpoints exhibition also takes place at that day at 1:00 pm. Viewpoints is a gorgeous, colourful exhibition of art by children's book illustrators, in response to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Then comes the grand finale on Saturday, October 23. Children can create their own wearable masterpiece at the Print Your Own Tote Bag workshop at 12 noon, before the festival finishes in fabulous Halloween style with the Roola Boola Monster Céilí at 3:00 pm. Expect plenty of music, movement and monster-sized fun!
The enchanting Listen! Éist! Multilingual Audio Story Installation also continues until 31 October during opening hours.
For grown-ups, the Linenhall Film Club returns on Tues 3 Nov at 7.30pm with a screening of UK film On the Sea, a beautiful, sensual and at times tragic exploration of masculinity, place and desire.
Finally, from Mon 2 Nov to Mon 7 Dec, for six weeks only, the Linenhall's regular life-drawing sessions will be tutored by artist John Brady, offering a fantastic opportunity for artists of all levels to learn, build confidence and develop their drawing technique (over 18s only).
