The event, titled “Meet the Champions!”, is being organised by Westport Autism Friendly Town and will be held on Thursday, March 12 at 7.30pm in the Seán Staunton Room at Westport Town Hall Theatre.
The meeting will give businesses, community organisations and local clubs from across Westport and surrounding areas the opportunity to meet the town’s newly recognised Autism Friendly Champions and learn about the steps they have taken to become more inclusive for autistic people and their families.
Local champions set to share their experiences include Westport Estate, Westport Town Hall Theatre and Westport Library.
Organisers say the evening will also highlight what is involved in becoming an Autism Friendly Champion and outline the supports, training and resources available to local organisations interested in taking part.

The meeting will also provide an opportunity for parents, families and community members to connect with one another, share experiences and learn how to get involved in making Westport a more inclusive place for residents and visitors alike.
The event is open to everyone in the community, and organisers say they are encouraging anyone interested in autism awareness, accessibility and inclusion to attend.
