THE funeral of Dusan Ivan, who died in a fire in Ballina last week, will take place today (Thursday). 

Mr Ivan, who worked in security in Westport, has been fondly remembered after he died following a fire at an apartment on Tolan Street in Ballina last week. 

He was originally from Slovakia but had lived in Ballina for several years. 

Mr Ivan reposed at McGowan's Funeral Home, Ballina yesterday (Wednesday) evening (July 17) from 7.30pm until 8.30pm. His removal takes place this morning (July 18) at 11am to St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina arriving for Requiem Mass at 11.30am followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium.

His funeral service will be streamed live.
