Fundraising ongoing for family who lost home to pre-Christmas fire

The Campbell family lost their newly renovated home in a fire just one week before Christmas.

A special GoFundMe page has been set-up for a family in Hollymount after their newly renovated home was destroyed in a fire just one week before Christmas.

Kenneth and Tracey Campbell, their daughters Sienna (14), Leah (13), Cadence (8) and Isabella (6), and the children’s great-grandmother Kathleen, lost their home in a sudden fire at 9pm in the evening. The power tripped and when Tracey went to the fuse box she discovered the kitchen engulfed in flames. Thankfully everyone got out safely, but the house was damaged extensively. It will need to be totally gutted and renovated all over again.

The GoFundMe page has been set-up by Kenneth's brother Dwanye and Tracey's sister Laura and so far over €81,000 has been raising.

Other events are being organised locally to bolster the fund. One such event is taking place on Friday night, January 5, when Dancing at the Crossroads in the Crossroads Community Centre, Cong, will be a special fundraiser.

Organisers Paddy and Marilyn McTigue will waive the admission fee in favour of donations, all of which will be donated to the fund. Music on the night will be by Pat Daly.

Donations to the GoFundMe can still be made https://www.gofundme.com/f/fundraising-for-family-home-that-has-being-burned
