LIAM McHale looks set to be appointed manager of the Mayo senior ladies team following a weeks-long debacle which recently became the subject of legal proceedings.

A county board meeting is set to take place tonight (Tuesday November 7), where the former Mayo senior men’s team selector appears set to ratified.

The Mayo News understands that some club delegates may boycott the meeting, but this is unlikely to have much bearing on proceedings.

The appointment of the Mayo senior ladies manager was thrown into upheaval after the county board executive overwhelmingly rejected a recommendation by an independent appointments committee to give McHale the job.

It was later found that the rejection by secret ballot was ‘flawed’ and that the appointment should have gone to club delegates for ratification.

McHale’s coaching ticket includes his former Mayo teammates Kenneth Mortimer and Dermot Flanagan.

The only other candidate for the job was former Mayo Minor ladies manager Vinny Gavin from Swinford.
