John Geraghty to take on transatlantic dual marathon challenge for Focus Ireland

Kilmeena's own John Geraghty is lacing up his running shoes for an extraordinary feat this October as he prepares to conquer not one, but two marathons on opposite sides of the globe. With his eyes set on the Chicago and Dublin Marathons, John's ambitious mission is driven by a profound desire to make a difference in the lives of those facing homelessness.

When asked about his motivation, John commented: “Listening to the depressing figures and the number of families experiencing homelessness regularly on the news has motivated me to fundraise in the hope of playing my part. It's heart-wrenching to witness the struggles of those less fortunate, and I believe that together, we can make a difference.”

Every step he takes in both marathons will be a stride towards providing hope, and a brighter future for those who need it most. Latest figures show there currently 83 people in emergency accommodation in Mayo and Roscommon and 212 children in the West region (Galway, Mayo and Roscommon).
