When asked about his motivation, John commented: “Listening to the depressing figures and the number of families experiencing homelessness regularly on the news has motivated me to fundraise in the hope of playing my part. It's heart-wrenching to witness the struggles of those less fortunate, and I believe that together, we can make a difference.”
“We're immensely proud of John's dedication and determination," said Monica McElhinney Community Fundraiser with Focus Ireland. “His commitment to our cause is inspiring, and we're grateful for his support. Every donation he raises will help us make a positive impact in the lives of those facing homelessness.”
John's efforts will benefit Focus Ireland, a leading organisation dedicated to combating homelessness and supporting individuals and families in need. Every step he takes in both marathons will be a stride towards providing hope, and a brighter future for those who need it most. Latest figures show there currently 83 people in emergency accommodation in Mayo and Roscommon and 212 children in the West region (Galway, Mayo and Roscommon).
