Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar where The National Ambulance Service are conducting a demonstration today (Tuesday)

The National Ambulance Service (NAS) clinical decontamination team is conducting a demonstration with Mayo University Hospital (MUH) today.

NAS will set up a clinical decontamination tent at the hospital and provide a full demonstration on clinical decontamination to the staff at MUH.

Clinical decontamination may be required at a hospital site for patients who self-present and haven’t been decontaminated at site of an emergency that involved potential exposure to a chemical hazard.

The demonstration takes place outside the Emergency Department entrance today from 11am to 1pm.

There will be additional ambulance vehicles, personnel and a decontamination tent on site for the purposes of the exercise. There will be no impact to services at the hospital or at the National Ambulance Service during this time and people should attend for their appointments as scheduled.
