Funeral arrangements announced after death of well-known Castlebar barber

The funeral arrangements have been announced following the tragic death of a well-known barber from Castlebar. Tony Fallon of 21 Fr Meehan Place, Castlebar, died tragically following an accident. His body was recovered from Castlebar town river on, Tuesday, July 11.

Tony's was predeceased by his dad Michael and is survived by his son Conor, mother Anne and sisters Mary King (Rinshinna), Caroline Quinn (MacHale Rodd), Teresa Fallon (Springfield) and Fiona Fahy (Westport); brothers-in-laws Michael King, Brendan Burke and Adrian Fahy, his uncle Sean Fallon and his aunts May Heenan, Brid Griffin (USA) and Joan Redmond, his nephews, nieces, his grand-niece Nellie, cousins, work colleagues, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

On his published death notice, it states that Tony started his working career at the age of 16 years with Larry’s Barbers in Castlebar and for the past 20 years he has worked in Ger Staunton’s Barber Shop in the county town.

Tony's death notice added: “He made many life long friends during his working life and in the many activities he took part in, like playing pool with his friends on the Flynn’s pool team. Listening to music on the juke box was another interest of his, especially the Foo Fighters and AC/DC. He liked an odd flutter in the bookies and watching his beloved Liverpool and Celtic. For relaxation he loved watching wildlife programmes on TV but his greatest enjoyment came from the time he spent with his son Conor, especially when they went fishing together. Tony was gifted mechanically, and he could literally fix anything from watches to motorbikes.”

Mr Fallon will repose in Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, tomorrow Friday, July 14, from 6.30pm to 8pm. The funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Saturday for funeral Mass at 11am, followed by a cremation service in Shannon Crematorium at 3pm. May he rest in peace.
