BALLINROBE’S Cornmarket will be a hive of activity on Sunday next June 6, as part of a unique day planned to raise funds for Enable Ireland in Mayo. The extravaganza will be the end result of a lot of hard work carried out by a group of concerned Ballinrobe citizens who are hoping to aid the excellent work carried out locally by Enable Ireland, and will include a car boot sale, farmer’s market, free children’s amusements, a vintage car display, live music and much more. The events get underway at 11am on Sunday, and everyone is invited to attend what promises to be a great family day and join in the fun.
A charity motorcycle run is also taking place on Sunday and will coincide with the one-off festival at Cornmarket to also raise funds for Enable Ireland in Mayo. As it is being held on the 66th anniversary of the D-day landings in Normandy, the event has been appropriately dubbed the ‘D-Day Motorcycle Run’, and the organisers are hopeful of over 60 participants. The planned itinerary will take the convoy from the Volex building car park on the Breaffy Road in Castlebar at 10am, and will follow a route through Claremorris, Ballyhaunis, Charlestown, Swinford, Foxford, Ballina, Castlebar, Westport and Tourmakeady, before finishing in Ballinrobe and joining in the Cornmarket festivities at 3.30pm. There will be collectors on the run and people are being asked to come out and view the bikes and help raise badly needed funds for Enable Ireland in Mayo.
All are welcome to take part in this worthwhile event and anyone wishing to do so is asked to be at the starting point by 10am. More details are available by contacting Ciaran Keating on 087 2348489 or by e-mailing ciarankeating@mayonews.ie.
Enable Ireland has a brand new therapy centre called ‘Safari Club’ in the N5 Business Park in Moneen, Castlebar. The organisation provides many services to children, young adults and their families in Mayo - including physiotherapy assessment and intervention, social work, assistive technology assessment and training, children’s personal assistant service, transport, summer activities and hydrotherapy.
