MIDFIELD Development Association will make a bold bid for a place in the Guinness Book of Records when they hold a 24 hour auction in Julian’s of Midfield, starting on Saturday June 13 at 6pm and finishing on Sunday evening. They hope to break the record for the most amount of items auctioned in a 24 hour period. The venture is in support of Midfield National School.
Among the many items for auction are a Panorama family ticket to Portugal, four prizes of meals for tour and a tour of Dáil Eireann sponsored by Mayo deputies Michael Ring and Dara Calleary, a signed Mike Tyson (pictured) punch bag and a signed Ryan Giggs photo.
The committee has collected over 1,500 items for the auction and sale including Aer Arann tickets from Knock to Dublin, seven nights at the Signature Park Hotel, two at the Montrose Lodge B&B Dublin 4, two VIP tickets to Old Trafford for next season, Mayo and Ireland jerseys, and loads of other materials such as furniture, crystal, paintings, Cds and books, lamps, games, a 1930’s-1940’s radio, and much more.
“The auction preview will be held on Friday 12 at Julian’s from 3pm to 8pm. We are also opening early on Saturday 13 at 4pm to allow people to have another view of the lots.
“We have a wide selection of items which shall be up for auction but we will also be running bargain sales tables alongside the auction. So you may just pick up a nice bargain. We have secured some lovely prizes for the big raffle and we are hoping that it will attract a lot of support,” says Kathleen Brennan.
There will also be a Family Fun Day on Sunday with make-overs by Fiona Maloney from the Greenroom in Swinford, back massage, card reading, BBQ, face painting, bouncy castle, and a children’s disco.
Admission to the auction and sale is just €5 and the committee promise a memorable and enjoyable occasion and look forward to big support in their bid to gain a spot in the Guinness Book of Records. For further information, contact Carmel on 087 7462999.
