Castlebar woman receives a surprise of a lifetime when singer Jack L arrived at her home for her own personal concert.
A case of Hallelujah for Eliz and Jack L
FOR the majority of us, our dreams are an elusive fantasy. But for Eliz Harkins, on a recent Sunday afternoon, she did not even have to leave the comfort of her own sitting room at Rosslee, Castlebar, to get the surprise of a lifetime when the man of her dreams appeared before her. And, within minutes, he was entertaining her with his husky, distinctive voice. It was certainly a case of Alleluia! Jack L had driven specially from Dublin to serenade his Number 1 fan. The surprise was courtesy of her good friend Deirdre O’Leary, and many members of her loving family and some close friends were there to share the special moment. Eliz has been ill over recent months and husband, Derek, along with the couple’s three boys, Patrick (14), Derek (12) and Humphrey (9) were delighted with ‘the small surprise’ for her. Minutes before the arrival of the music maestro, a straight-faced Derek asked Eliz: “Will I put on your favourite CD?” Unsuspectingly, she replied: “Why not!” “Ah! sure I’ll go one step better.” And in walked Jack L who proceeded to strum his guitar and fill the house with his dulcet and jazzy lyrics. First playing Eliz’s favourite song, ‘Hallelujah ’, Jack L then played a number of songs from his new album ‘Burn On’, before driving back to Portlaoise, where he was due to play. Jack L is in the TF Royal Theatre on December 4.
