Gardaí in Ballina have arrested a man in relation to a series of burglaries of business premises.

GARDAÍ in Ballina have arrested a man in relation to a series of burglaries of business premises in the town over the last three weeks.
The man, who is from Ballina, was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning in relation to the burglaries in which an amount of cash was taken from the business premises. The crime spree took place over the last three weeks when the thief entered the premises by forcing open the back door.
A Garda spokesperson explained that the man, who is in his early twenties and known to Gardaí, was arrested in connection with the burglaries and was being held for questioning. The spokesperson said the main motive for the burglaries was to steal cash from the tills and nothing else was taken. The arrested person is being detained in Ballina Garda Station and can be detained for up to 12 hours if necessary.
