Ballina protest

A protest is due to take place this Friday in Ballina in a bid to halt plans for an asylum centre.

A major protest will be held in Ballina this Friday evening in a bid to prevent the proposed asylum centre opening in the Ridgepool Hotel in the town.
“I am calling on the whole town to come out and support this silent protest that takes place at 7pm on Friday, from the Cathedral. It is hugely importantly that the town fights to save the Ridgepool,” Ballina Town Mayor Padraig Moore told The Mayo News yesterday (Monday).
“This affects not only the whole town but also Foxford and Swinford and the towns the Moy runs through, which will be affected if we lose the Ridgepool. We have to look at the bigger picture.”
