THE 2019 Cheltenham Festival will go down as one of the most eventful ever, and anyone who followed last week’s preview in The Mayo News will hopefully have picked up a few winners along the way.
In total, Michael Duffy chose eight winners and five places during his preview of the four-day festival, enjoying a bumper Day One where he went for Duc Des Genievres (5-1), A Plus Tard (5-1) and a headline pick for the Champion Hurdle in the shape of Epsoir D’Allen, who returned a massive 16-1.
The other winners he plumed for during the week were City Island (8-1), Altior (4-11), Sire De Berlais (4-1), Paisley Park (11-8) and Ch’tibello (12-1) on the final day.
In his ‘Horses for Courses’ column, Pat Henry tipped up Al Boum Photo (12-1) to win the Gold Cup for Willie Mullins as well as Siruh Du Lac (9-2) to win the on Thursday. He also had placed horses in the shape of Thomas Darby (28-1) and Bun Doran (11-1).
The Festival was one of the most competitive in history so getting ten winners on the board wasn’t a bad effort at all from The Mayo News tipsters!
