KILlASSER girl Róisín Tansey is to receive a Child of Courage Award at a prestigious awards ceremony later this month.
Róisín is one of eight children who will receive an award on November 24, in recognition of their incredible courage in the midst of adversity.
Confined to a wheelchair after suffering a spinal-cord injury at the age of three-and-a-half after a simple fall on a sofa at her home, Róisín has learned to live with her condition and has become an accomplished artist – using her mouth to paint.
She has been receiving specialised treatment for the past four years, regaining some movement.
The event will be presented by Today FM and The Six O’Clock Show presenter Muireann O’Connell. Róisín and the seven other children will discover their dream come true following the awards, thanks to the Share A Dream Foundation.
