Two women had to be cut from their car following a head-on collision at Coolturk
Two women in serious condition after head-on collision
Crossmolina TWO women had to be cut from their car by the fire brigade following a head-on collision with another car at Coolturk, Crossmolina on Saturday evening. The head-on collision took place at 5.55pm along the Crossmolina to Ballina road, when the Toyota Avensis car in which the two women were travelling collided with a Hyundai Landra car which was being driven by a male. The two women in the car were seriously injured and were taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar after they were cut free by the fire brigade. Three ambulances attended the scene and the male driver of the other car was also taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries. The road was closed for a period of time while the emergency services were dealing with the accident and diversions were put in place. Gardaí investigating the cause of the collision are asking people who may have seen the collision to contact Ballina Garda Station at 096 20560. Another head-on collision took place at Rathbane in Foxford on Saturday afternoon resulting in five people being taken to Mayo General hospital suffering from minor injuries. The two-car collision took place at 4.40pm and gardaí investigating the collision are calling on people who may have seen anything to contact them at Ballina Garda Station.
