The Dunnes Stores outlet in Westport was broken into in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardaí seek public assistance after Dunnes Stores robbery
Westport GARDAÍ investigating the burglary of a Dunnes Stores outlet in Westport have appealed to late night revellers to contact them if they saw any unusual activity in the early hours of Sunday morning. The Dunnes Stores outlet, which is located on Castlebar Street opposite the Castlecourt Hotel, was broken into between the hours of 3am and 5.30am on Sunday morning, January 13. A substantial amount of cash was taken, along with a large quantity of cigarettes. The security alarm on the premises was cut by the perpetrators before they entered the building by forcing open a second storey window. Gardaí said the people who carried out the crime knew what they were doing and called on people who may have seen some unusual activity on Distillery Road or Castlebar Street, after leaving the night clubs to contact Westport Gardaí at 098 50230.
