An Post confirmed on Monday morning that Doohoma Post Office will close its doors this coming Thursday, November 30.
The Post mistress of Doohoma Post Office, Anne Heston, is retiring from her position. A spokesman for An Post told The Mayo News on Monday evening that the people who collect their pensions and social welfare payments from Doohoma Post Office have been notified of the closure. He also explained that they can now collect their payments from Geesala Post Office, about a ten minute drive away from their original collection point.
It is also believed that there will be a postal collection point setup in the Doohoma area in the near future, where people can post their letters, but a confirmed location has not been decided as of yet.
