The was a huge sense of shock in Westport when news emerged of the sudden death of well-known local woman Anne O’Donnell

The was a huge sense of shock in Westport when news emerged of the sudden death yesterday (Tuesday) morning of Anne O’Donnell (née Staunton) of North Mall, Westport.
Mrs O’Donnell died unexpectedly at her home. She was a teacher in St Brendan’s College in Belmullet for many years and retired in recent years. Her husband, Michael, owns and runs O’Donnell’s Shoe Shop on the corner of the North Mall and Castlebar Street.
Ann and Michael have one daughter, Miriam.
A native of Kilsallagh, near Louisburgh, Anne is predeceased by her father Joe Staunton, a member of the Mayo All-Ireland winning team of 1951.
Anne is mourned by her husband and daughter, her mother Breege (née McMyler), brothers Padraic, Tom, Joe, and John, sisters Mary, Mairead, and Theresa, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, former pupils and colleagues at St Brendan’s College, and a large circle of friends.
Her funeral details are as follows: Anne will lie in repose at Navin’s Funeral Home, Westport on tomorrow (Thursday) evening from 5pm with removal at 8pm to St Mary’s Church, Westport. Mass of the Resurrection on Friday at 11am followed by interment in Aughavale Cemetery, Westport.
May she rest in peace.
