A woman has been remanded in custody in relation to an alleged stabbing in Ballina at the weekend

A woman has been remanded in custody in relation to an alleged stabbing in Ballina at the weekend.
A special sitting took place at Castlebar District Court yesterday (Monday) before Judge Patrick Durcan.
The woman was charged under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal offences Against the Person Act and the court was told that a file is being sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for further, more serious charges to be considered.
Defending solicitor Marc Loftus applied for bail while Superintendent Joe Doherty applied for the defendant to be remanded in custody.
Judge Durcan remanded the accused in custody to appear before Castlebar District Court on Tuesday next, July 4.
