Following the recent good news that Pobal funding was being renewed, Claremorris Community Radio (CCR) has responded by producing some highly-interesting programmes that should entertain its loyal listeners.
CCR is currently broadcasting a significant new series. ‘Equality Matters’ will focus on different sections of society with each episode aiming to promote equality in the community.
Hosted by Catherine Lavery, this series will feature individuals with disabilities, members of the Travelling community, immigrants, and relevant spokespeople from community support groups in the West of Ireland.
‘Equality Matters’ began on Sunday, April 16, at 2pm, and will then be broadcast at that time for the four subsequent Sundays. Each show will be repeated on Thursday’s at 11am.
‘The Man Show’ is a weekly discussion show in which John Nolan and Andrew Newman cover the latest in men’s issues and interests. Amongst the topics covered are: News, Sport, Tech, Movies, Music and Health issues.
‘Sports Files’ is a 12-part series which focusses on the many sporting groups in or around the Claremorris area.  Produced by John Whittle, each 15-minute programme profiles a club, highlighting activities and achievements, and lets listeners know how they can get involved.
From boxing to rugby, golf, ladies GAA, athletics, squash, tennis, swimming and much more, there is a sport to suit everyone.
The first episode of ‘Sports Files’ will be broadcast on Sunday, May 21 at 2pm and weekly afterwards, for a total of four weeks. Shows will be repeated on the following Thursday, starting on May 25, at 11 am.
