THIS Christmas Day brave men, women and children will take the plunge for two local causes at Cahir Pier.
This year the event will raise funds for two very worthy causes, the Friends of Grace Trust and raising money for Baby Shannon Moran Waters.
The Christmas Day Swim will take place at Cahir Pier, Ballinrobe at 1pm on Christmas Day (Sunday) and is being organised by local man John Craddock and the newly-established Ballinrobe Watersports Club.
“We are having a lot of interest this year, different clubs like the GAA club and the rugby club have made contact about taking part. It all depends on the weather, last year we had all the flooding. We will have collection buckets so people can donate what they can,” explained Mr Craddock.
The swim, or dip as it’s more accurately known as, now makes up one of the five annual water sports events that are being organised by the club. Organisers hope that as many people as possible can come out.
