THE countdown is on for the release of Ballinrobe native Alan Murphy’s celebrity tell-all book ‘Beyond The Spotlight’.
Alan, a radio presenter with Galway Bay FM for over 12 years and also a former showbiz editor with TVNow Magazine, has compiled the juiciest stories from his time interviewing celebrities.
From fellow Mayo man Louis Walsh, to Charlize Theron and Paris Hilton, Murphy has met the who’s who of the celebrity world and documented each encounter for his first book ‘Beyond the Spotlight’.
Athenry based publishing house Book Hub offered Alan a publishing deal last year and the presenter and Irish Dancing instructor has been busy writing ever since and is now excited to share his stories.
He told The Mayo News, “I can’t wait for everybody to read the book. I just handed in the final draft to my publishing team and now I’m counting down the days to September 9.
A Hollywood themed party will take place at The g Hotel in Galway to launch the book next month.
“It’s so exciting. Celebrities fascinate everyone and my book will take you inside the elusive showbiz bubble and give a real insight into how the rich and famous live. It’s a lot of fun,” said Alan.
An entire chapter in the book is dedicated to fellow Ballinrobe man Rory ‘Panti’ O’Neill. And in an exclusive sneak peek from ‘Beyond The Spotlight,’ Rory reveals that he wouldn’t rule out running for President of Ireland in the future. He tells Alan, “In fairness, I think I would be a good value President. I could do some things as Rory and some as Panti. You’d get two Presidents for the price of one. And I think I have the main criteria – I make a pretty decent speech and I pose very well in photographs. So really I think I am highly qualified.”
The book also includes stories about Lindsay Lohan, Janice Dickinson, Eddie Murphy and the late Prince.
