A man who is facing 106 charges, including rape, is to be served with the book of evidence for trial before next month’s sitting of Belmullet District Court.
The man, in his 40s, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was before Belmullet District Court on Wednesday last.
The court was told he had been granted High Court bail. His bail application had been refused before Belmullet District Court in May. The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed trial on indictment for the accused.
Inspector Tom Calvey (prosecuting) told Judge Alan Mitchell he was seeking an extension of time to serve the book of evidence due to the complexity of the case, particularly the fact there are over 100 charges.
The defendant was in court.Judge Mitchell adjourned the case to July 13 for service of the book of evidence.
