Put away the paddling pool – rain and clouds to return following last week’s welcome warm spell

DON’T cancel your flights for that holiday abroad just yet, sunny conditions in ‘Costa del Mayo’ look set to cease.
After last week’s welcomed warm weather and Belmullet recording a Mediterranean high of 25.4 degrees on May 9, the clouds look set to descend, according to Met Éireann.
Put away the barbecues and sun loungers, as the rest of the week will be a mixture of mostly clouds with outbreaks of rain and drizzle.
There will be some dry periods today (Tuesday), also with some bright spells breaking through, and highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees Celsius.
Claremorris folk look set for a seven degree drop in temperatures this Thursday, with the area having recorded highs of 22.2 degrees last Thursday.
Meanwhile last month was the hottest April on record globally and the seventh month in a row to have broken global temperature records. The latest figures smashed the previous record for April by the largest margin ever recorded. Perhaps varnish that decking after all.
