GMIT Castlebar to raise White Flag

GMIT’s Mayo campus has been awarded the White Flag for its efforts in raising awareness of violence against women

A WHITE flag will be raised at the GMIT Mayo Campus this Friday in recognition of its efforts in promoting the White Ribbon Campaign.
The Castlebar Campus was awarded the flag for its work in raising awareness of the campaign which is a male-led movement to end men’s violence against women.
The White Ribbon Campaign is aimed at engaging both men and women in ending men’s violence against women, and promoting gender equality for all.
“A lot of hard work has gone into achieving this honour and it could not have been achieved without the help and drive of GMIT Student Róisín Keane,” said Declan Murphy  Student Union Campus President. “She has worked tirelessly to ensure that the college could achieve such a prestigious award.”
