Madeleine Jordan, Westport, received an Age Action Silver Surfer Awards for her IT prowess
UP TO SPEED Madeleine Jordan with Age Action CEO Eamon Timmins.
Madeleine Jordan, Westport, who celebrated her 90th birthday yesterday (Monday), was runner-up in the Age Action Silver Surfer Awards 2015 for her prowess in information technology (IT).
Madeleine was nominated for the award by Linda McNulty of Westport Family & Community Resource Centre. The Golden IT Award category in which she was runner-up is for persons who are over 80 years of age and who use technology in their lives and communities.
Madeleine, who was short listed and presented with her award at DCU on Tuesday, October 20, uses an iPad regularly for banking, communicating with her family and friends and in pursuit of her hobbies, which include quilting.
She has managed to replace paper with her IT skills – and keeps the minutes and agendas of meetings and other events on her iPad. She’s on Facebook also, and active on it too.
Madeleine, an inspiration to us all, is an honorary member of the Octagon Quilters and a valued volunteer at Westport Family Resource Centre.
Madeleine is wished many more years of health and happiness, and surfing, by her family and many friends.
