Legendary Davitts GAA member and supporter, Michael Waldron, scooped the Claremorris GAA lotto jackpot of €9,400

LEGENDARY Davitts GAA member and supporter, Michael Waldron, scooped the Claremorris GAA lotto jackpot of €9,400 at the weekend. Wally’s phone went into meltdown on Sunday night when news began to spread about his big win. Amazingly, he came within one number of doing the double as he had three of the four numbers in the Davitts Lotto (€5,700) three hours later.
Wally is an institution on the Davitts circuit and scooping the jackpot of neighbours and rivals Claremorris has enhanced his status across the board.
“Wally was down in Newport at a Davitts ladies match when his phone rang telling him the good news from Claremorris. He danced a reel on the sideline that even Michael Flatley would be proud of,” said Davitts club member Billy Kearns.
“They couldn’t believe it when three of his four numbers came out in our own draw on Sunday night. He still won an extra €50 for his efforts anyway.
This is the second recent time that the Claremorris GAA lotto has gone out the road to Ballindine. In April 2014, primary school teacher Deirdre Heneghan scooped the €15,000 jackpot.
