Brackloon in mourning
THE community of Brackloon in Westport and the wider community are in mourning following the death of local woman Laura Donnellan. Laura (30), of Brackloon, Westport passed away on Saturday evening last surrounded by family and close friends.
Described as a ‘jovial person with a positive outlook until the end’, Laura lost her battle with Cystic Fibrosis in St Vincent’s Hospital Dublin.
She was deeply involved with CF West and involved in bringing the CF unit to fruition at Mayo General Hospital.
Laura went to national school in Brackloon before attending Sacred Heart School in Westport.
She completed her leaving certificate and worked at Tracy’s Florist.
The Bon Jovi fan loved country life, dogs and walking around Cloona and her native Brackloon. Laura had a great sense of humour, was an inspiration to many and counted RTÉ pundit Joe Brolly as a close friend.
She is deeply mourned by her mother Noreen (nee Barrett), father John, brother Ken, sister Regina, beloved niece Amber, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Doctors, consultants and the nursing teams at both Mayo General Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital are thanked for their dedication in caring for Laura and were like a second family to the Donnellan family.
Reposing at her home in Brackloon from 3pm to 7pm today (Tuesday). Arriving at St Mary’s Church, Westport on Wednesday, at 12 noon for Mass at 12.30pm.
Burial afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
May she rest in peace.
