Westport Town Hall mega fundraising draw launched

WESTPORT Town Hall is now in the final stages of re-opening its doors in the heart of Westport. The building works are complete and now the final task of construction is to kit out the auditorium with seating, staging, flying and rigging and sound and lighting systems.
It is estimated that this process will take approximately 12 weeks and the Board of Directors have been advised that the auditorium should be complete by the end of May.
Westport Town Hall are continuing to drive their fundraising efforts to complete the Theatre and auditorium kit out with the launch of a Mega Raffle draw for a brand new 2015 VW Polo. 
This raffle drive will run for up to six months with the draw taking place at the end of August. Raffle tickets will be selling for €10 each. The project has already captured the imagination of the local people and business community of Westport and the funding of this project has been raised from donations and ongoing support from the local community, local businesses, St Patrick’s Drama Group, Mayo County Council, FΡilte Ireland, LEADER and The Department of the Arts and Heritage.
Despite the strong backing of the above mentioned, there remains the utter necessity to make up the shortfall in funding for the internal kit-out of the building. Fittings such as retractable seating and staging and a fully competent and functional sound and lighting system are paramount to the facility reaching and maintaining its absolute potential as a multi-functional cultural hub for the town of Westport.
Mel Kenny, Director of Fundraising for the project is also making a special appeal to those people who were area collectors for the door to door collections in the past, to once again come forward and help drive the final crucial stage of the fundraising efforts.
Additionally, the fundraising will continue on Monday, March 16, in The Castlecourt Hotel Dome Suite with a gala concert.
