THE second season of the popular Irish comedy series Moone Boy returned to the small screen last night (Monday) and with it brought Mayo actors Ian O’Reilly and Siubhan Conlon to audiences across the UK and Ireland.
The talented friends and classmates of All Stars Academy of Performing Arts (Drama / Ballet) in Ballyheane, will appear for the latest instalment of the Irish sitcom created by Bridesmaids’ star Chris O’Dowd.
The sitcom is a semi-autobiographical story of O’Dowd’s childhood and focuses on a young boy’s life growing up in Boyle, Roscommon in Ireland in 1989.
Fourteen year old Ian from Moorehall, Ballyglass will return to the series as Padraic, the best friend of protagonist Martin Moone, while Suibhan will be appearing as character Trudy for the first time.
Both actors will appear along side a star studded cast including O’Dowd, Johnny Vegas and Steve Coogan.
Ian, a second year student at Ballinrobe Community School, is currently filming the third series of the popular show.
Ian was a guest on the Late Late Show last Friday night in anticipation of last night’s airing.
The talented duo from All Stars Academy of Performing Arts are no strangers to the stage, Ian played the wizard in the ‘Wizard of Oz’ and Sir Toby with Suibhan who played Marie in All Stars last production of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’.
They will both be performing in the Academy’s next production ‘Shrek the Show’ at the Royal Theatre Castlebar on May 4 and 5 next. The Academy principals Eleanoir and Phil are very proud of both of them and say they feel ‘very privileged’ that their students were both successful in the national auditions for the sitcom.
Moone Boy airs on Sky One every Monday night at 9pm.
