A MULTI-MILLION euro, 20,000 square foot state of the art primary care unit could be open in Ballinrobe by late 2015. Ballinrobe has made the HSE’s most recently published list of locations for proposed primary care units.
Speaking to The Mayo News Fine Gael Cllr Michael Burke said the next step towards the unit’s realisation will be to invite expressions of interest from developers and investors. The public private partnership was valued at €3 million to €3.5 million by Cllr Burke, who described it as “a positive” for the town and a “welcome development”.
The unit would service a large area including Shrule, Hollymount and down as far as Ballintubber and would provide services ranging from mental health, to medical and dental care, according to the Ballinrobe councillor.
Cllr Burke said it is hoped that the consultation process would be concluded by April 2014 with the intention for the unit being open by late 2015.
HSE West will be tasked with putting individual stakeholders in place who will deliver the services.
