Ballina Town Council may produce a book to commemorate the council, which is being abolished next June

Discussing a book on the history of Ballina Town Council, councillor Mark Winters quipped, “Who wouldn’t like to write their own epitaph?”
The book, proposed by Town Clerk Carmel Murphy at last week’s council meeting, would be written to commemorate the council, which is being abolished next June. It would document the council’s politicians, executives and achievements, and provide a general history of the town. The clerk told the meeting that if taken on, the project would not be finished by next June.
All members nevertheless said they fully supported the proposal, although Independent councillor Mary Kally suggested that a booklet might be more cost-effective.
The council voted on whether to pursue the idea, and unanimously decided to proceed.
