Westport’s Garda SíochΡna are trying to help resolve the location of one engagement ring and the owner of another
Gardaí dazzled about engagement rings
Áine Ryan
IT’S a classic tale of lost and found. Well kind of. There is romance. A proposal. And of course diamonds. In this case though the diamonds may not be forever. And now the gardaí have become involved.
It is almost a week since a gold-banded diamond ring was found near the Ulster Bank, Westport and handed into the Garda Station, just across the Carrowbeg River. Could there have been a disagreement, a lover’s tiff? Or perhaps, just like the girl in the Specsavers advertisement, she threw it away by mistake. Fortunately it has an inscription.
In another twist just four days later, the men-in-blue are landed with the saga of another diamond encrusted white gold engagement ring. This time it is missing, possibly slipping off that fourth finger of a tourist in the grounds of Westport House on Sunday sometime. Any information on the beautiful three-stone ring, which has several little diamonds on the side, will be much appreciated.
