Over €25,000 in drugs seized in Louisburgh and North Mayo

SUBSTANTIAL amounts of cannabis have been seized in three separate operations across the county. On June 27 last, up to €10,000 worth of cannabis was recovered at a house in the Louisburgh area after a search by the Divisional Drugs Squad.
Speaking to The Mayo News Detective Sergeant Jim Cadden confirmed that a person believed to be the ‘main supplier in the Westport area’ had been arrested in relation to the drugs. Gardaí are not seeking any other persons with their investigation and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
On Wednesday last, two further seizures were made, one in Foxford and later that day in Ballina.
€7,000 worth of, what gardaí believe to be cannabis herb, was seized after a search by the divisional drug squad of a house in the Foxford area. One person is said the be assisting gardaí with their enquiry.
In Ballina over €10,000 worth of cannabis plants were recovered after a search under warrant of a house in a housing estate in Ballina. A person was arrested in relation to the plants, but was later released. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
